Operational studies provide an analytical review and evaluation of all aspects of financial and clinical results of a nursing home’s operation using benchmarking techniques and result in noteworthy outcomes.
Management studies focus on educating management staff on matters of third-party reimbursement. This dialogue encourages staff to take an active role in establishing corrective strategies in both financial and clinical operations, thereby “buying into” a corrective plan to ensure long-term results.
A case in point: One client facility was losing $300,000 monthly and could not turn a profit. HMM carried out an operational study and pinpointed the problem. After management implemented the changes over 10 months – facility went from losing $300,000 monthly to making $300,000 a month – an upswing of $600,000!
